• “Lake City” refers to Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, a historic U.S. military ammunition producer.
• Tracer ammo contains a pyrotechnic additive in the projectile or base that burns to produce a visible light trace during flight, usually enabling shooters to see the trajectory.
• In the .30 Carbine world, tracer rounds exist but are far less common than in, say, 5.56×45 or 7.62×39 military calibers. They were more typical in certain WWII-era or post-war military inventories. Modern production of .30 Carbine tracers is relatively limited and often subject to export and import controls.
• Safety: Tracer rounds can ignite vegetation or materials if they strike them, and can be a fire hazard in dry conditions. They can also start fires in some environments. Use only in appropriate, permitted ranges and understand backstopping and insurance considerations.
• Lake city headstamp 1952
