William & Mary Oak Glazed Bookcase On Stand, c.1680 Books - Morality upon which sits a gadroonA superb William & Mary period oak glazed bookcase on stand of unusually narrow proportions, c. 1680. Probably Scottish in origin. The moulded arched cornice is centred with a shell motif above a large single glazed door opening to a shelved interior, all upon an oak base with a long frieze drawer raised upon thick barley twist legs, the whole joined by a cross stretcher. Working lock and key. The top and base are a historic marriage; both elements
